Message from the Director (I/C)

Mechanization of agriculture is an essential input to the modern farming practices. Farm mechanization and crop productivity are correlated because farm mechanization increases crop output and farm income while saving time and labour, decreasing drudgery, lowering production costs over the long term, and reducing post-harvest losses. Since its founding, the Central Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute has been ready to offer a genuine platform to all those involved in various agricultural mechanization sectors. As the country is celebrating “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, this institute, at this moment, has also served the nation for almost seven decades and during this phase, with a relentless team of skilled engineers, technical employees, officers, and other supporting staff, this institute has grown competency and attained international reputation via their committed work to achieve the established goals and deliberate objectives.

In contrast to the set goals, this institute trained 5267 trainees against the target of 5200 trainees and tested 85 tractors against the target of 60 tractors for the fiscal year 2022–2023. As of now, 8366 beneficiaries have attended the 127 demonstration camps organizedby us, thus far this year. During this fiscal year, the institute has made 541 lakhs rupees in revenue.

In addition to demonstration of appropriate technology machines, this institute has also started demonstration of Krishi Drones in collaboration with private players since March, 2022 and during the fiscal year 2022-23, 25 drone demonstrations were already conducted in the farmers’ field. The Institute will strive for as many of demonstrations as possible in the coming days.

I am glad to see the institute moving forward steadily to meet the modern-daytechnological requirementsforall the beneficiaries in the field of agricultural mechanization through training, testing & demonstration and we are well committed to meet the future goals of the nation.
